The Consulate General of Bangladesh in Hong Kong organised a reception for the newly admitted students in the academic year of 2023 in different universities of Hong Kong titled “Engaging and Empowering Youth for Shaping Smart Bangladesh by 2041”.
Around fifty Bangladeshi students participated in the event held on Saturday (Sept 23).
Consul General Ms. Israt Ara, welcomed the students in Hong Kong: Asia’s World City. Noting that five universities of Hong Kong are ranked among the top hundred universities in the world, she mentioned that selection of different disciplines in these prestigious universities is an important chapter of their lives, said a press release.
She said that Hong Kong is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world. She encouraged the students to shine the image of Bangladesh through their knowledge and talent among different nationalities.
The Consul General further added that under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the able daughter of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the young students through their academic knowledge, innovative ideas and initiatives would contribute to build a ‘Smart Bangladesh’ by 2041.
During the event, a number of students were awarded by the Consul General with appreciation certificates for their outstanding performances in different cultural events/reception programme organized by the Consulate. Later, some students showed dance performance, poem recitation, etc. in the event.
At the end of the programme, students were entertained with traditional Bangladeshi food. A small token of gift were also handed over to them. They thanked the Bangladesh Consulate for organizing the programme for them.
It may be mentioned that a significant number of students from Bangladesh enroll in the top universities of Hong Kong for higher education in various subjects including engineering, bio-medicine, BBA, data science, aeronautics, etc. every year. They are also awarded with different scholarships.
