Dhaka Metropolitan Police commissioner Habibur Rahman on Sunday said that two people were arrested for their suspected involvement in attacking and killing police constable Amirul Parvez during clashes between police and activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party.
The arrested two are involved with BNP politics and one was arrested from Gaibandha and the other from Dhaka’s Demra area, said the DMP chief.
Asked about detention of BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the DMP chief said that police detained Fakhrul for interrogation.
Habibur said that they were yet to show Fakhrul arrested in any case.
The DMP chief said that police were raiding to arrest BNP leaders and activists involved in cases of violence, arson and police assault.
Meanwhile, a murder case has been filed with Paltan Police Station in connection with the killing of Constable Amirul.
Police filed the case on Saturday night, Inspector (investigation) of Paltan Police Station Sentu Mia said on Sunday.
