At least 7,902 people were killed and 10,372 others were injured in 6,261 road accidents across Bangladesh in 2023, said a report published on Sunday.
In the year, 27.23 per cent or 2,152 people were killed and 12.9 per cent or 1,339 more people were injured in 32.43 per cent or 2,031 motorcycle related crashes, the report of the Passenger Welfare Association of Bangladesh said.
In 2023, a total of 512 people were killed and 475 more were injured in 520 railways accidents while 91 people were Killed, 152 injured and 109 remained missing in the 148 waterways accidents.
A total of 8,505 people were killed and 10,999 were injured in a total of 6,929 accidents on roads, railways and waterways.
The association published the annual report, prepared on the basis of different media reports, at a press conference at the Dhaka Reporters’ Unity, said a press release issued by PWAB.
