A 50-year-old bicyclist died after being hit by a bus at Alukdia Bazar on the Chuadanga-Meherpur road in Chuadanga on Saturday morning.

The incident happened when a Chuadanga Deluxe Paribahan bus hit him on the highway.

The deceased was identified as Shamsul Islam of village Pirpur of Chuadanga Sadar upazila.

Chuadanga Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge Sekendar Ali confirmed the news.

Abdul Jabbar, a UP member of Alukdia union said that Shamsul was injured in the accident while going to Chuadanga Boro Barar to sell betel leaf.

Later, local people rescued him and took him to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, where resident medical officer Wahid Mahmud Robin declared him dead, he said.

The body will be handed over to the family after preparing an inquest report, added the OC.
