Noble laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus on Thursday said that they were passing a terrible situation as outsiders had occupied Grameen offices forcefully.
He said, ‘Suddenly some outsiders came to Grameen Telecom Building on February 12 and locked the doors of the offices located at the building.’
‘We have submitted complaints to police but they did not do anything in this regard.’
Grameen Telecom chairman Professor Yunus came up with the remarks at a press conference at the ground floor of the Grameen Telecom Building in Mirpur in Dhaka.
He said, ‘We have gone through many obstacles but we never faced such a situation.’
‘I am in a terrible situation. We have made this building; it is the seed bed of our dreams. But, suddenly four days ago some outsiders came and started usurping and now we have become outsiders at our own place,’ he added.
‘I have sought help from the police. But they did not find any problems here!’
‘How does a country run like this? This is the head office of all our offices. We operate all our activities from here,’ Yunus said.
He said, ‘Outsiders have seized it. Now where will we go, what will we do? The police are not listening to us.’
‘Let there be a case. We have many ongoing cases and we will deal with this one too. But, why has the office been locked? I am seeking justice from people of the country,’ he said.
Professor Yunus said they were not getting any help from the government in this regard.
Earlier on the day, a group of unidentified men and women blocked the entrance to the Grameen Telecom Building.
