At least five lawyers have been arrested in a case of ‘attempt to murder’ during Friday’s scuffle while counting ballots of Supreme Court Bar Association election.
Ramna crime division deputy commissioner Ashraful Islam said on Saturday that the five people were arrested at separate places in the capital’s Banani and Dhanmondi areas.
The arrests were made following a case filed with Shahbagh police station Friday night after the scuffle between two rival groups.
Assistant attorney general SR Siddique Saif filed the attempt to murder case against twenty lawyers including senior lawyer Nahid Sultana Juthi, the wife of Juba League president Sheikh Fazle Shams Porosh, and opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party backed panel leader Ruhul Kuddus Kajol.
Police officials said that all the arrested ones were named in the case.
