BNP has decided to boycott the upazila parishad election in all phases.
The party took the decision at a meeting held on Monday night.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the announcement in a press release on Tuesday.
The press release said that BNP has boycotted the previous national and local government elections under the Sheikh Hasina-led government and Election Commission as a fair and peaceful election environment was not created.
There are logical reasons for not participating in the upcoming upazila polls as the existing “anarchic situation” has worsened, the party added.
Earlier, the Election Commission announced that the upazila parishad elections will be held in four phases.
