Theatre personalities have stressed writing, producing and stating dramas in light with spirit of the War of Liberation to inform the true national history to the younger generation and bring them up with patriotic zeal.
They made the observation at a discussion arranged by drama organization ‘Sarothi’ at its office on the Central Shaheed Minar premises here to celebrate its 49th founding day through various colourful programmes on Saturday night.
With life-term Member of the organisation and noted dramatist Md. Abdus Sobhan in the chair, President of Rangpur city Awami Lillie Shafiur Rahman Shafi attended the function as the chief guest.
Drama artists including Headmaster of Chondipur High School Shamsul Alam, Sadar Upazila Food Controller Halimur Rahman Polash, Moktadirul Alam Polash, Motahar Hossain Dalu, Ismet Ara Bonnya, addressed.
Moderated by Founding General Secretary of ‘Sarothi’ Sirajul Islam Siraj, Khatib of Balatari Jam-e-Umpqua Md. Mostafizur Rahman conducted special munajats seeking divine blessings for departed souls of former members of the organisation.
Citing glorious pasts of the drama organisation, the speakers put importance on staging time-befitting dramas to inspire the younger generation in becoming culturally developed minded citizens to establish peace in society for accelerating development.
The chief guest urged drams organisations to produce more drama writers and artists to further strengthen cultural movement and popularising both stage and street dramas to establish secular spirit for building a non-communal peaceful Bangladesh.
“Staging of dramas frequently at educational institutions can easily inform the young generation about true national history to establish spirit of the War of Liberation and severity of drug abuse and other social curses,” he added.
