The accident happened in Miraripur area on the Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj highway under the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Asif Iqbal, 19, son of Lal Mohammad, a resident of Kasba area under Dakumra upazila, Sweet, 31, son of Alamgir, of Sutraban area and Tajul Islam, 25, son of Johurul Islam, from Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila.

Meanwhile, the injured are Zulhas Uddin, 32, son of Rabiul Islam of Aliganj village, and Rimon Hossain, 35, son of Manik Mian of Kasba village under Dakumra upazila.

Ali Akbar, Officer-in-Charge of Damkura Police Station, said five youths on two motorbikes were heading towards Rajshahi city. On the way, a drum truck coming from the opposite direction dashed the motorbikes as it was trying to give side to an auto-rickshaw around 4.30 pm, leaving three youths dead on the spot and injuring two others.

The injured persons were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. Conditions of two of them were stated to be critical, the police officer added.

The bodies were recovered from the spot and kept at the hospital morgue to take legal actions, added the OC.
