Writer Sanjida Shahid’s new collection of short stories titled Alaktak is now available at different bookshops.
Published under the banner of the publishing house Annesha, Alaktak contains 16 stories depicting social anomalies, plight of the marginalised and others. The cover of the book has been designed by artist Charu Pintu.
‘Apart from stories on love, social and religious superstitions, psychological conflicts, I have focused mainly on stories related to the struggles of people, their dreams, their brevity, their limitations, among others,’ Sanjida Shahid told New Age.
Sanjida also mentioned that she took three years to publish the book after her debut collection of short stories titled ‘Atmaja’ got published.
Speaking about the stories, the writer mentioned, ‘In the title story “Alaktak”, I have portrayed religious superstition, while the story “Santahar Jangshaner Apeksha”, centring on the progression of two characters’ relationship, deals with internal and external obstacles to be together.’
Readers can buy Alaktak at book shops, including Batighar. It can also be purchased on online platforms, including Rokomari and Boiferry.
