Star Cineplex is going to re-release of two iconic Hollywood films by Christopher Nolan – the 2008 superhero film ‘The Dark Knight’ and the 2014 epic science fiction film ‘Interstellar’.
Both of the films will be re-released across all branches of Star Cineplex on May 3, Friday.
The second film of the ‘Nolan Trilogy,’ representing the iconic comic superhero Batman from the DC universe, The Dark Knight, is widely revered as one of the best Hollywood films in the modern era, especially because of the late Heath Ledger’s iconic portrayal of The Joker, who is historically regarded as the archnemesis of Batman.
Acclaimed Hollywood actor Christian Bale played the character of Bruce Wayne/Batman in the film, reprising the same role from the first of the trilogy, Batman Begins (2005). The ensemble cast of the film also includes Michael Caine, Heath Ledger, Gary Oldman, Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Morgan Freeman, among others.
The Dark Knight was the first comic book movie to win a major industry award due to its mature tone and themes, visual aesthetic, and Heath Ledger’s tremendous performance, who tragically passed away a couple of months before the film’s release. The film won numerous awards, including the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, posthumously awarded to Ledger; along with BAFTA, and Golden Globes, and became the biggest-grossing movie of 2008, the fourth-highest-earning movie at the time, and the most-grossing superhero movie, shattering several box office records.
Interstellar (2014), however, came out as a whole other genre of space fiction while continuing Nolan’s supremacy in the world of Hollywood, stunning movie lovers across the globe for its scientific accuracy and portrayal of theoretical astrophysics demonstrated in a dystopian setting.
Featuring another spectacular cast, including Matthew McConaughey in the lead alongside Anne Hathaway, Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Bill Irwin, Ellen Burstyn, and Michael Caine, among others, Interstellar received positive reviews from both fans and critics while garnering over $681 million worldwide ($733 million after subsequent re-releases), making it the tenth-highest-grossing film of 2014. The film received nominations at the 87th Academy Awards for Best Original Score, Best Production Design, Best Sound Editing, and Best Sound Mixing, while winning the Oscar for Best Visual Effects.
Both of the films have been certified as theatre-centric movies by movie lovers for their offerings of supreme visuals, sounds, and aesthetics, and the interest marking their theatrical return in the country sparked after the success of Nolan’s recently released masterpiece Oppenheimer (2023), said Star Cineplex Media and Marketing Senior Manager Mesbah Uddin Ahmed.
