Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), student wing of the ruling Awami League, staged a demonstration on the Dhaka University (DU) campus on Monday, demanding the establishment of an independent Palestinian state and an immediate end to the barbarism of Israeli forces in Gaza.
The BCL men staged the demonstration in front of the historic Madhur Canteen, a socio-culturally and politically important place for DU students, this noon and later, brought out procession expressed solidarity with the global demand.
Protests in solidarity with Palestine were held Sunday in Belgium, Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands, with hundreds of people demanding a permanent cease-fire in Gaza, according to the international media.
The BCL men also marched different streets, holding flags of Palestine and were engaged in chanting slogans in support of an independent Palestinian state.
The demonstrators showcased banners, placards and festoons bearing messages such as Freedom for Palestine, Stop the genocide in Gaza and Stop the war crimes against children.
The procession concluded at the Raju Memorial Sculpture on the DU campus, where distinguished BCL leaders delivered their impassioned messages condemning the barbaric attack.
Israel resumed its military offensive on the Gaza Strip on 1 December last year after the end of a weeklong humanitarian pause with the Palestinian group Hamas.
