A court in Dhaka has sent Ishraque Hossain, member of the International Affairs Committee of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, to jail in a case filed with Paltan Police Station.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Ash Shams Jaglul Hossain on Sunday passed the order after Ishraque surrendered before the court and sought bail in the case. After the hearing, the court rejecting the bail petition and sent him to jail.
Taherul Islam Tawhid, lawyer of the petitioner confirmed the matter.
According to the case statement, on October 28, 2023, during a protest programme, BNP leaders and activists gathered illegally in various parts of the capital city to protest the national elections, where they exploded bombs, obstructed police duties, and assaulted police officers with the intent to kill, resulting in injuries.
Multiple cases were filed in different police stations based on these allegations.
