Three prison guards were suspended and served show-cause notices to others on Wednesday following the escape of four death row convicts from the Bogura district jail.
Bogura district administrator Saiful Islam confirmed that measures had been taken in response to the incident.
He said that he was aware of these actions. This matter was not under his jurisdiction but was the responsibility of the higher authorities in the prison department, he added.
The jailbreak took place in the early hours of June 26, when the convicts escaped from the rooftop of the condemned cell. Despite the serious breach in security, Jail Superintendent Monir Hossen was unavailable for his comment.
Authorities swiftly acted and arrested the escaped convicts later that day near the Chelopara Bridge area.
