Inspector general of police Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun on Tuesday said that the police force would not take responsibility for any individual’s misdeeds.

‘I want to make it clear that Bangladesh Police, as an organisation, will not take responsibility for any individual’s misdeeds. One’s misdeeds will be disposed of as in the way the investigation process proceeds,’ he said while replying to a question from the journalists over corruption allegations against several dozen retired and serving police officials.

Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the 32th founding anniversary of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police in Rajshahi on Tuesday morning.

He said that they were modernising the police force as the crime patterns of criminals were changing due to the multi-dimensional nature of crime.

‘To adjust with the change in the circumstances, we are acquiring logistic equipment and training our manpower,’ he added.

Regarding the armed separatist group Kuki-Chin National Front in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, the IPG said that everyone, including the Bangladesh Army, had been engaged in the operation in Chittagong Hill Tracts.

‘As far as I know, there is no alarming situation now. The situation there is calm and is completely under control,’ he added.

Earlier, Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun inaugurated the inaugural ceremony of the 32th founding anniversary of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police by releasing balloons and pigeons.

Later, a colourful procession was brought out in front of the RMP headquarters.

Among others, Rajshahi range deputy inspector general of police Anisur Rahman, Rajshahi Police Academy principal (additional IGP) Masudur Rahman Bhuiyan, RMP commissioner Biplob Bijoy Talukder, Rajshahi superintendent of police Saifur Rahman, and Rajshahi deputy commissioner Shameem Ahmed addressed the inaugural ceremony.
