Unidentified quota protesters sued over vandalising police vehicles

A case was filed against unidentified quota protesters for vandalising vehicles of the police and assaulting their personnel during Thursday’s blockade programme at the Shahbagh crossing in Dhaka.

Rajarbagh Police Lines transport driver Khalilur Rahman filed the case with the Shahbagh police station on Friday after consulting his higher authorities, according to the case statement.

Shahbagh police station inspector, operations, Md Ershad Hossain said, ‘The case was filed on Friday night as police vehicles had been damaged by quota protesters on Thursday. ’

Thousands of students in Dhaka and other places across the country have been continuing their protests for reforming the quota system in government jobs for the past 13 consecutive days since July 1.

On Thursday, thousands of students blocked the Shahbagh crossing in Dhaka breaking police barricade.
