Students continue controlling traffic on Dhaka roads

Students were seen managing traffic at different important intersections across Bangladesh capital Dhaka for second consecutive day on Wednesday.

Amid presence of the members of Bangladesh Ansar on the roads, mainly the students were seen controlling the traffic.

 

For the second consecutive day no traffic police were seen on roads in Dhaka on Wednesday.

The number of public transports was also low on the roads while the number of cars, motorcycles and rickshaws was higher.

Prime minister Sheikh Hasina resigned on Monday and fled the country, ending her 15-year rule amid an unprecedented student-led mass uprising against her authoritarian regime.

On Tuesday no traffic police were seen on roads in the capital while students and ordinary people started to control traffic.

Amid the situation, on Tuesday Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Force members were deployed alongside army personnel to protect police stations across the country, manage Dhaka city traffic and provide security to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, confirmed Fakhrul Alam, deputy director general, Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Force.

Since Wednesday morning at Karwan Bazar, Farmgate, Banglamotor, and other crossings, students were seen managing the traffic while at the presence of the ansar members.

The vehicles were seen following their instructions.
