The government on Tuesday decided to appoint Ahsan H Mansur as the new governor of Bangladesh Bank (BB).
He will succeed Abdur Rouf Talukder, according to banking division sources.
Meanwhile, the age limit for the post of central bank governor, previously set at 67 years, is expected to be removed soon.
The position of central bank’s governor fell vacant after Abdur Rouf Talukder resigned as BB governor on 9 August citing health issues four days after Sheikh Hasina resigned as prime minister and fled the country in the face of an uprising.
