“It is not possible for me to bring down prices of the daily essentials overnight but, I am sure that the people will get relief soon,” Salehuddin told reporters while addressing a press conference at his Secretariat office in Dhaka this noon.
Claiming that controlling inflation is the first priority of the interim government, the seasoned economist said he has given all authorities concerned to take pragmatic measures to this end.
As part of the measures, he said he has already urged the ministry of agriculture to undertake steps for boosting production in the sector.
