The Anti-Corruption Commission on Thursday initiated an inquiry against six people, including former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan, on charges of amassing illegal wealth through taking bribe.
ACC formed an inquiry team, led by its deputy director Jahangir Alam, to carry out the inquiry.
The other five people are —home ministry’s additional secretary Harunur Rashid, joint secretary Sanjoy Kumar Das, APS Monir Hossain, public relations officer Sharif Mahmud Opu and administrative official Mollah Ibrahim Hossain.
There are allegations that a syndicate, led by former home minister and additional secretary Harunur Rashid, amassed a huge amount of money through taking bribe for recruiting people in police, Department of Narcotics Control and fire service.
ACC deputy director (public relations) Md Aktarul Islam confirmed the news of starting inquiry against the six.
