After a day-long protest at New Market police station, a murder case was filed against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina at midnight past Tuesday  for killing photographer Tahir Zaman Priyo in Central Road area in Dhaka on July 19 during the student protests for reformation of quotas in government jobs.

‘We have to fight for hours to file the case. I went to the police station at about 11:30am and the case was filed more than 12 hours later. We have got initial success,’ the plaintiff Shamsi Ara Koli told New Age.

She alleged that New Market Zone assistant commissioner of police Refatul Islam did not want to record the case and they had to stage a demonstration at the police station for more than 12 hours to file the case.

New Market police station inspector (operations) Halder Orpit said that they had recorded the case.
