Another case was filed against Bangladesh ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and her aides on Monday night in Rajshahi, taking the number of cases filed against her to 68 after the fall of her government on August 5 amid a mass uprising led by students.

SM Salahuddin Ahmmed Shamim Sarkar, member of Bagha upazila Chhatra Dal in Rajshahi, filed the case against Hasina and former state minister for foreign affairs Shahriar Alam and 52 others, said Bagha police station officer-in-charge Abu Siddque.

According to the case statement, under the direct instruction of Sheikh Hasina, the other accused forcibly picked up Salahuddin in front of the Bagha New Bus Stand on May 21, 2023.

‘They blindfolded me and took me to an unknown place and beat me severely. The next day I was given electric shocks and was shot with a revolver in the leg and three of my toenails were pulled out. After a week of hellish torture, the accused handed me over to the police who later framed me in a fabricated case,’ Salahuddin mentioned in the case.

Meanwhile, Chhatra Dal activist Jahid Hasan also filed another case with Bagha police station on Monday night accusing 141 named and 100 to150 unnamed Awami League and its associated bodies’ leaders and activists for vandalising and setting a grocery shop on fire at Kishorpur Bazar on August 25, said OC Abu Siddque.
