Dhaka district additional superintendent of police Abdullahhil Kafi was kept at Dhaka Metropolitan Police detective branch custody for interrogation over the allegations of killing and burning students in Ashulia on August 5.
DB police detained him at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Monday night when he was trying to flee Bangladesh.
DMP DB joint commissioner for North Mohammad Rabiul Hossain Bhuiyan told New Age on Tuesday morning that they were interrogating him over the incident at Ashulia on August 5.
‘If we find his involvement in the incident, we will talk to the home adviser for arresting him. We cannot arrest a serving official without talking to the home adviser,’ said Rabiul.
A video clip that went viral on social media showed that police personnel dumping a body on several other bodies on a rickshaw van on August 5, the day Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled to India amid a student-led mass uprising.
