Two more murder cases were filed against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina in Dhaka on Wednesday over the deaths of two people during the student-led mass uprising.
A case was against 56 people, Sheikh Hasina over the killing of Hafez Mawlana Sadikul in the capital’s Uttara area during the recent anti-discrimination student movement.
The other accused in the case include Obaidul Quader, Abdur Razzak, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and Chowdhury Abdullah-Al Mamun.
Mawlana Sadikul’s uncle Ashraf Siddiqui filed the complaint with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Fazana Shakila Sumu Chowdhury. The court after recording the statement of the complainant, asked Uttara West Police Station to file the matter as a First Information Report (FIR).
Hafez Mawlana Sadikul got severely injured at Uttara Sector 9 as the police fired indiscriminately on the rally of the anti-discrimination student movement on July 19. He succumbed to his injuries the next day.
The widow of Amir Hossain, who was shot dead in front of BTV Bhaban in the city’s Rampura area on July 19, filed a murder case against 24 persons, including Sheikh Hasina and former transport minister Obaidul Quader with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Afnan Sumi.
The court recorded the plaintiff’s statement and ordered PBI to investigate the case.
According to the case, Amir Hossain was shot dead in front of BTV Bhaban in the city’s Rampura area on July 19, as police and miscreants fired at the students and ordinary people by the directives of the accused.
Former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Awami League leaders Kamruzzaman Polash, ABM Siddique, among others, have been named as accused in the case.
