BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Wednesday said the killing of every individual during the student-led mass movement must be tried, not showing any mercy towards the perpetrators.
“Every murder must be tried by forming a tribunal. Every crime must be tried. If the criminals including Sheikh Hasina are not prosecuted, then Bangladesh will become a graveyard,” he said.
Rizvi made the demand while handing over a donation on behalf of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to the father of Golam Rabbani, who was killed during the movement, at their family business firm in the city’s Shahbagh area.
He said that forgiving the killers who, under Sheikh Hasina’s orders, shot people dead during the student-led mass movement would be a betrayal to the souls of the victims.
Not mentioning the name of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, the BNP joint secretary general said they forgave Awami League. “How could they forgive those who carried out genocide?” he questioned.
He said no innocent person should be a victim in the lawsuit, but those who are guilty shouldn’t be pardoned.
Rizvi urged BNP leaders and activists not to take the law into their own hands but to allow law enforcement agencies to do their jobs.
He said his party acting chairman Tarique Rahman also issued a note of strong warning in this regard.
BNP Chandpur district unit President Sheikh Farid Ahmed Manik and BNP Assistant Secretary for health affairs Nazrul Islam, among others, were present during the donation handover.
