Today marks the 28th death anniversary of popular film star Salman Shah. Twenty eight years have passed since his demise but he is still skyrocketing in popularity. The actor is still the most revered icon and ingrained in the hearts of the audience only because of his fabulous acting style and fashionable appearance.
The artiste, who created history in Bangladeshi cinema, was born on 19 September 1971 in Zakiganj upazila of Sylhet district. During his school days, Salman Shah was very popular as a musician in the friend circle. In 1986, he also completed a course on “Palligiti” from Chhayanaut. He got married Samira Haque on 12 August 1992 before entering the film industry.
Salman Shah started his acting career with the drama serial “Pathor Somoi” written by Moinul Ahsan Saber. Later, he was appreciated by his acting in several dramas. Apart from movies, his presence in dramas also got a great response from the audience.
However, the popular actor made his silver screen debut in the film “Keyamat Theke Keyamat” in 1993. Moushumi was seen opposite Salman Shah in the Sohanur Rahman Sohan- directed film. The movie was a huge hit at that time. Then, the duo was seen in only three movies – “Ontore Ontore” “Sneho” and “Den Mohor”.
Later, Salman Shah acted in several films with Shabnur. The pair is still considered as one of the best pairs of Bangladeshi cinema. They starred in a total of 14 films, including “Tumi Amar” (1994), “Shopner Thikana” (1995), “Tomake Chai” (1996), “Shopner Prithibi” (1996), ‘Jibon Shongshar” (1996) and “Anondo Asru” (1997).
Salman also paired up with Shabnaz, Shahnaz, Lima, Shilpi, Sonia, Brishti, Shyama, Sabrina and Kanchi.
Salman acted in a total of 27 films. His popular films are “Keyamat Thekey Keyamat”, “Antorey Antorey”, “Bikkhov”, “Bichar Hobe’, “Den Morhor’, “Ei Ghor Ei Sangsar”, “Jibon Sangsar”, “Chawa Theke Pawa”, “Anondo Osru”, “Mayer Odhikar”, and “Shotter Mrittu Nei”.
The iconic actor died on 6 September 1996. He was found hanging from the ceiling of his bedroom at Eskaton, Dhaka.
Salman Shah’s unexpected death is not only affected his family, but also broke the hearts of millions of his fans.
According to many film producers and directors, Salman Shah was like a comet. After the death of the actor, many heroes have appeared in Bangladeshi cinema, but no other hero has been able to surpass the popularity of Salman Shah with acting and fashion.
