The Nepalese foreign student of the Khulna University, who was admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital on suspicion of coronavirus patient on Monday morning, has tested negative for coronavirus.
“The student was released from the hospital at around 1:30 pm after necessary medical examinations and he tested negative for the new coronavirus,” said KMCH director Dr ATM Monjur Morshed on Monday afternoon.
He said, “The student has not been infected with coronavirus. No coronavirus case was reported in Nepal so far. However, the student was asked to stay in his room as a precautionary measure.”
Earlier in the morning, the student was admitted to the hospital on suspicion of being infected with the new coronavirus.
He was shifted to the hospital’s isolation unit for coronavirus infected patients this morning as he was diagnosed with fever and cough.
On receiving information, the student is a Nepalese citizen and studies at a department under the university’s faculty of Agricultural Engineering and Technology.
The student entered Bangladesh with fever and cough through a point along Kakarbhitta border area of Dinajpur district three days ago.
