Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday urged the countrymen to avoid public gatherings to contain the spread of the coronavirus infections in the country.

“The Prime Minister came up with the call while attending a cabinet meeting today,” said Health Service Division Secretary Md Ashadul Islam, who was present at the meeting.

The cabinet meeting was held at the Ganabhaban with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in chair.

“During the meeting, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reiterated that Bangladesh has enough capability to fight the outbreak of the November 2019 coronavirus,” Ashadul Islam said.

Earlier on Sunday, the IEDCR confirmed that three Bangladeshis were infected with coronavirus (COVID-19).

Of the coronavirus infected Bangladeshis, two have recently returned from Italy and are being treated at a hospital in the capital while a family member of one of the two is the third person affected with the virus.
