The 7-month-old child, placed at the isolation unit in Kushtia General Hospital was not coronavirus infected, hospital sources confirmed on Sunday.
HM Anwarul Islam, the Civil surgeon of Kushtia, told media that the report of the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) showed the 7-month-old child and one other man were not Covid-19 positive.
“A technologist of IEDCR on Friday collected samples of two suspected patients including that child of the hospital. The test reports of both were negative for coronavirus. The child was doing well and was released from the hospital,” Anwarul Islam said.
According to the hospital sources, the child was brought to the hospital on March 23 with fever and cough. Family members of the child informed doctors that there were none of the foreign returnees came to their family or none of them went close to any returnee. The child was admitted to the child unit of the hospital. On Thursday its condition worsened. She was being treated for pneumonia and IEDCR was informed about the case.
