Magura man dies in coronavirus isolation unit

A man who was undergoing treatment at the coronavirus isolation unit at Mohammadpur Health Complex in Magura, died at Faridpur Medical College Hospital on Friday morning.

Mohammadpur upazila health and family planning officer Dr Moksedul Momin said the 48-year-old Baki Mia was admitted to the Isolation unit since Thursday morning. Later, he was referred to Faridpur Medical College and Hospital as his condition deteriorated. But he breathed his last at the hospital this morning.

He said the man was suffering from cold, cough and fever.

Samples have been sent to Dhaka for testing coronavirus infection, he said.

The local administration has put several houses under lockdown to prevent transmission of novel coronavirus following the death of Baki.

Bangladesh confirmed five new cases on Friday, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 61.
