The residential area of the teachers under Amar Ekushey Hall of the University of Dhaka has been placed under lockdown, according to media report.
The administrative authority of that area took the decision as an elderly woman aged 70 was tested positive for coronavirus on Friday.
It is learnt that the woman is a mother-in-law of a residential teacher of the Amar Ekushey Hall, confirmed Proctor and Professor Dr A KM Golam Rabbani on Saturday.
Sources said the father-in-law of the teacher died with fever few days ago, although no coronavirus test was conducted on him.
Her mother-in-law was brought at the teachers’ quarter from Narayanganj as she was alone there.
Later, the mother-in-law had been suffering from fever and was diagonosed with coronavirus.
Confirming the incident, Proctor Prof Dr Rabbani said the area has been placed under lockdown. And people of the area have been asked to stay at home.
