‘Sea robber’ killed in Bhola ‘gunfight’

A suspected sea robber was killed in a reported gunfight between two groups of robbers in Sadar upazila in Bhola early Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Shafiqul Islam, 40, son of Munaf Bepary, hailing from Purba Ilsha union of the upazila.

The gunfight took place near Ferighat area at Bheduria union of the upazila.

Confirming the news, superintendent of police in Bhola Sarker Mohammad Kawser, said being informed, a gunfight occurred between two groups of robbers over sharing profits, police conducted a raid in the area. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, all robbers managed to flee the scene except Shafiqul.

At one stage, police recovered the bullet-hit body of Shafiqul and sent to Bhola Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy, he said.

The police super also said that Shafiqul was accused in four cases with Bhola Model Police Station.
