Husband, father-in-law to die for killing housewife in Tangail

A court in Tangail on Monday sentenced two people to death for killing a housewife in 2016.
The condemned convicts are Jahirul Islam, 25 and his father Majnu Mia, 55. The court also fined them Tk 1,0000 each.
Tangail Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal Judge Khaleda Yasmin handed down the verdict on Monday noon.
According to the prosecution, Taslima Akter, 21, daughter of Tashlim Uddin, hailing from Bhuapur upazila of Tangail, was killed by the convicts over dowry on November 29, 2016.
Later, a case was filed by victim’s father in this connection with Bhuapur Police Station on December 1, 2016.
Tangail court inspector Tanvir Ahmed confirmed the matter to media, adding that the accused were absent when the verdict was announced.
