A Gaibandha court on Thursday sentenced three siblings to death for killing their cousins in Sundarganj Upazila of the district in 2016.

Judge of Gaibandha District and Sessions Judge Court Dilip Kumar Bhowmik handed down the verdict this noon.

The condemned convicts are Hazrat Ali, Hafijur Rahman and Abzal Hossain.

According to case statement, Taslim Uddin, Morzina Begum, Jamila Begum, Alamgir Hossain, Morzina Begum-2 and Shahidul Islam were going to cut paddy on their land in the morning on November 12, 2016. At one stage, they were came in contact with a live electric wire which was deliberately placed by the accused, leaving them injured.

They were rescued and admitted to Sundarganj Upazila Health Complex where Taslim and Morzina died there.

Later, Taslim’s son Mafijul Haque lodged a case against the accused in this connection.
