President M Abdul Hamid on Saturday expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of veteran lawyer and former attorney general Barrister Rafique-ul-Huq.
The President, in a condolence message, said Barrister Rafique has made a huge contribution to establishing the rule of law in the country.
“Bangladesh has lost an eminent lawyer at his death,” added Abdul Hamid, now on an 11-day medical checkup in Dubai of the United Arab Emirates since October 14.
The head of the state prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
Barrister Huque breathed his last at about 8:30 am today due to old age-complications at the age of 85. He had been undergoing treatment at city’s Ad-Din Hospital with urinary tract infection and anemia problems since October 16.
