The government has extended the celebrations of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birth centenary by nine months citing the disruptions caused by Civid-19 pandemic
A per the new decision, the celebration programme will be continued till December 16, 2021 instead of Mar 26, 2021.
The Cabinet Division on Tuesday issued a gazette notification in this regard.
The government took the decision considering that the programmes could not be held properly in the designated period – Mar 17, 2020 to Mar 26, 2021 – due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Earlier, the government had announced the period from Mar 17, 2020 to Mar 26, 2021 as Mujib Barsha or Mujib Year to celebrate the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation.
