National rifle shooter and two-time Commonwealth silver medalist Abdullah Hel Baki received a wild-card entry in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics, scheduled to be held from July 23 to August 8.
“We got the confirmation today. International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) sent a letter through Olympics Association this afternoon,” national rifle coach Golam Shafiuddin Khan Shiplu told The Daily Sun on Friday.
The federation proposed the names of four national shooters including Baki, Shakil Ahmed, Risalatul Islam and Sayeda Atkia Hasan Disha for the Olympics wild-card entry to the national olympics committee earlier this month.
ISSF selected Baki among four contestants in the race of Olympics entry on the basis of his performances in the last four years.
Earlier, archer Ruman Shana, swimmers Junaina Ahmed and Ariful Islam, national athlete Jahir Raihan were also confirmed their entry to the event.
