Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda on Saturday said AL senior lawmakers Amir Hossain Amu and Toafil Ahmed couldn’t carry out electioneering and other activities in support of their party candidates in the elections to two Dhaka city corporations.
“Awami League advisory council members Amir Hossain Amu and Toafil Ahmed can’t lead two election steering committees of their party — one for Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and another for Dhaka North City Corporation (DSCC),” he said.
The CEC came up with information while talking to reporters after holding a meeting with an AL delegation at the Nirbachan Bhaban in Agargaon area of the capital this noon.
On January 4, the ruling Awami League formed two steering committees, headed by Amir Hossain Amu and Toafil Ahmed, to supervise the overall election activities ahead of the two Dhaka city polls.
