PDB to buy power from Saudi company-led joint venture

The cabinet committee on government purchase in a meeting on Wednesday approved a proposal of purchasing per unit of electricity at Tk 11.067 from the proposed 300 Megawatt Solar Power Plant at Rampal in Begarhat.
A joint venture of ACWA Power Company of Saudi Arabia, Comfit Composite Knit Ltd Bangladesh, Viyellatex Spinning Ltd, Bangladesh and Midland East Power Ltd. Bangladesh, will set up the power plant.
Bangladesh Power Development Board will purchase electricity from the power plant for 20 years, said Sayeed Mahbub Khan, an additional secretary of the cabinet division in an online briefing.
Finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal presided over the meeting virtually.
