Japan has issued a tsunami advisory, cautioning of a 1-meter tsunami threat to the islands located off the Izu Peninsula along the eastern coast of the country.
This advisory comes in the wake of an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.6 that occurred around 11 am on Thursday near Torishima Island, as reported by the Japan Meteorological Agency.
The epicenter of this seismic activity was situated in the Pacific Ocean, approximately 550 kilometers (340 miles) to the south of Tokyo.
