22 Malaysia-bound Rohingyas rescued in Cox’s Bazar

The members of police rescued at least 22 Malaysia-bound Rohingyas from Shyamlapur Noalhalipara area of Teknaf upazila in Cox’s Bazar on Monday night.

Of the rescued 22 Rohingya refugees, 18 were women, 3 men and one child. All of them are hailed from different camps of Ukhia in Teknaf.

Confirming the news, Mohammad Liakat Ali, in-charge of Teknaf Baharshara Police investigation Centre, said that a group of human traffickers gathered with a number of Rohingya men and women in Noakhalipara area to send them off towards Malaysia by sea. Following the information, a team of law enforcers rescued 22 Rohingyas men and women and one child in a drive at 8:00 pm.

Mohammad Liakat Ali said, “The Rohingyas will be sent back to their respective refugee camps after interrogation.”
