Awami League nominated mayoral candidate for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Atiqul Islam on Tuesday sought vote and blessings from BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
The DNCC mayor candidate Atiq met BNP leaders on Tuesday afternoon as they were coming out from National Press Club following the announcement of the election manifesto of BNP mayoral candidate Israq Hossain.
Atiq asked them to vote for him in upcoming Dhaka city polls slated on February 1 and also sought their blessings.
BNP standing committee member Iqbal Hassan Mahmud Tuku, BNP Vice Chairman Abdullah Al Noman along with many other party leaders were accompanied by Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at that time.
National Press Club President Saiful Alam, Prime Minister’s former Information Advisor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Press Club Treasurer Shyammal Dutt and others were also present there.
In reply, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir informed Atiqul Islam that he was not a voter of Dhaka City but voter of Thakurgaon.
“I wish all candidates of Dhaka city polls for a free and fair election,” Mirza Fakhrul said.
Atiqul Islam shook hands with all BNP leaders present there and asked them to vote for him.
