Bangladesh prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday expressed profound shock and sorrow over the tragic demise of Iranian president Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, foreign minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, and their entourage in a helicopter crash.
In a letter, Sheikh Hasina wrote, ‘I am deeply shocked and saddened to hear about the sad demise of President Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Hossein Amir Abdollahian, and members of the entourage in the tragic accident of the helicopter carrying them.’
She highlighted that President Raisi was a wise and selfless leader who served his country with deep commitment and worked tirelessly for the well-being of the Iranian people.
‘He was a great leader of international stature, and his exemplary leadership and accomplishments will remain a lasting legacy for us,’ she added.
The PM also offered prayers for divine blessings for the departed souls and wished courage and fortitude for the bereaved family members and the people of Iran to overcome this irreparable loss.
