BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has asked the Dhaka dwellers to cast their votes going to voting centres without any fear in the elections to two city corporations in Dhaka to be held on Saturday.
He said “The election in Dhaka city corporations is going to be held just after one day. Please cast your votes without any fear in a bid to save your rights as per the constitution. The democracy of the country was achieved in exchange for blood. Ensure your rights.”
Mirza Fakhrul Islam came up with the urge attending a press conference at noon at the BNP’s central office in the capital on Thursday.
“Let us build resistance against all wrongdoing, injustice, irregularities and acts of terrorism. Going to polling stations on February 1, we cast our votes. We make Dhaka a safe and liveable city. We will of course win in the elections if Dhaka dwellers are able to give their mandates,” he urged.
The conference was attended by BNP standing committee members Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Mirza Abbas, Nazrul Islam Khan, Selima Rahman, central leader Abdus Salam, senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, among others.
