Bangladesh Meteorological Department forecast rains across the country in 24 hours from 9:00am on Saturday.
‘Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely at many places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions, at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over the country,’ said a Met office bulletin.
Mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over the country and it may continue.
Day and night temperatures might remain nearly unchanged over the country, it added.
The country’s highest temperatures were recorded in Netrokona at 38.5 degrees Celsius over the past 24 hours till 6:00pm Saturday while the lowest temperature was in Bandarban at 24.8 degrees Celsius.
The axis of monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across southern part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay.
Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay. A low pressure area is likely to form over North Bay and adjoining area during next 72 hours, it says.
