Three more Narayanganj gas fire victims dies at DMCH

Two more people succumbed to their burn injuries they received after a fire broke out at a house in Sahebapara of Siddhirganj upazila in Narayanganj on February 17.

With this, the death toll from the Narayanganj gas explosion reached five so far.

Confirming the news, Inspector Bachchu Miah, in-charge of DMCH police camp, said Apan (10) and his uncle Hiran (30) breathed their last at the burn unit of the hospital in between 5am and 5:30am today while Apan’s other uncle Abul Bashar Emon (28) succumbed to his injuries at 4am on Monday.

Three other victims who are undergoing treatment at the burn unit of the hospital, are also in critical condition.

On February 17, eight members of a family suffered burn injuries after a fire broke out at their house in Sahebpara area under Siddhirganj upazila of Narayanganj.

The fire originated on the ground floor of a five-storey building as gas accumulated in the flat as the gas burner was left on all night. The fire started when the burner was ignited in the morning.

On February 17, a woman died and seven other members of a family suffered burn injuries in a gas explosion in Siddhirganj of Narayanganj as family members fell asleep without turning off the gas stove.

Following the deadly explosion, Nurjahan, 60, Kiron Miya (45) and his mother Nur Jahan (60) succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at DMCH burn unit.
