As of 22nd March 2020- 2,92,142 people have been affected by COVID-19 worldwide. About 12,784 lives have been lost. (Source: WHO)
SAARC region comprises of over 21% of the world’s population which remains vulnerable towards COVID-19. The Member States have reported 1,196 cases and a total of 12 deaths in the region.

Prime Minister of India has expressed his gratitude to Government of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka for contributing in COVID-19 emergency fund.
Prime Minister of India appreciated the people nationwide for participating in the ‘Janta Curfew’. He mentioned that this is just the beginning of a long battle against COVID-19 and there is a long way to go. He urged the people to follow the instructions being issued by the central government and the state governments from time to time. He asked people not to leave the houses in districts and states where the lockdown is announced and also not to leave the houses unless very necessary in other areas. (Source: pmindia.gov.in)
