A high-level commander of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army was killed in an alleged gunfight with members of the Armed Police Battalion at a Rohingya camp of Ukhiya upazila in Cox’s Bazar on Monday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Hussain Ahmad, 40, a high-level commander of Myanmar-based terrorist group ARSA.

14-APBn commander additional deputy inspector general Syed Harun-Or-Rashid said that ARSA members opened fire an APBn patrol team at camp number 17 on early Monday.

APBn members fired back that triggered the gunfight and after a while ARSA members fled the scene, leaving one dead on the spot.
