The main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Monday postponed its pre-scheduled rally for Monday at Aminbazar in Dhaka as law enforcers allegedly destroyed the makeshift stage erected at the venue.
Dhaka district BNP convener Abu Ashfaque told reporters that law enforcers vandalised the stage though they gave verbal permission earlier.
BNP planned to hold the rally from 3:00pm on Monday as part of their 15-day programme to press home their demand for holding the upcoming general election under a non-partisan caretaker government.
The other pre-announced rally of BNP, scheduled to be held at Dholaikhal in Dhaka at 3:00pm on Monday, will be held as per schedule, the party leaders said.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is scheduled to address the Dholaikhal rally as the chief guest.
